Igor Ruus was born in 1954 in Tallinn, USSR. Igor studied photography in the 1970s and after a few years of practice in the field, he continued his studies at the famous Moscow Institute of Cinematography. From 1984 to 1991 he worked as a cinematographer at Tallinnfilm, ETV (the national Estonian TV channel), and Eesti Reklaamfilm. In the 1990s, Igor exercised his talent in the advertising industry and worked on countless advertisement clips during those years. In 1996, his interest
in documentary film led him to change careers to take on new challenges in Estonia Film. Since 2006, he has worked as a producer, cameraman, and author in the film production company Laterna.
Igor Ruus has participated in numerous documentary trainings and seminars (Bornholm, Discovery Campus, etc.). Gave lectures on film and photography at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tartu Art School, and Euroacademy. Engaged in sailing, Tai Chi, and judo, in which he holds a black belt.
