DRAGONLIFE PROJECT

The Appointment

After all, I had noticed Her decades ago though never thought more than... so beautiful... and that's all. And then, this summer... a beauty from Garda flashed by on social media, and then, at the end of August I saw a flock very close and I felt the enchantment taking over my mind and my body cell by cell. All we need is taste… and Love.

The Beginning

An old friend Alar was beside me when I said: I just became a Dragon Sailor. It went on easily and quickly, a brand new musician friend was also by our side and we agreed to do bits of training and compete in 2 weeks. Done. I did a few more races in other boats and I knew - plastic was fantastic but my old love is wood.

The Marriage

And then... the same old fellow Alar, I call the sailing missionary announced that he had found a beauty in Denmark. I looked at the photos and the attraction was immediate, so... I asked him to be my best man a few hours later while driving, I felt that this relationship window could close at any moment. Even a little fear came over me, how would I live on if I let this moment go? I called my father-in-law-to-be to inform him that my decision was final. Yes!

The Journey

Alar also told me about the European Dragon Championships in Pärnu in August '24, and I wanted to give something to the Dragon community as well as to my summer hometown Pärnu. That’s how the idea was born to head south after meeting my new wooden bride in Denmark - as migratory birds, Dragons gather in the Mediterranean for the winter. We want to join the gang and feel the spirit in all spectrum to have a long and happy relationship.

The Road movie to the Sea and back home

And the idea came to record this promising road trip to the sea, and the cameraman Igor jumped into the boat. The plan is to film 3 parts: our road-tip of towing the boat down to the Mediterranean Sea, visiting friends and looking for the 3rd or 4th member of the crew, training, and regattas in the Mediterranean until spring, and the return to the homeland and the regattas in the Baltic Sea, culminating with the European Dragon Championships in Pärnu on the August '24.

Get on Board

Whether you're are wonderer of human nature or even a sailor, it might be interesting to follow our journey. As there are 9 months to go, it feels a little like pregnancy - we love the new baby already now and are so excited about what comes out of this womb of friendship - A True Love Story. The film is my tribute to Tiit Haagma, my first and only sailing coach.

Sincerely

Kihnu Tõnn
