Started sailing in Tallinn in 1970. Not just sailing but racing is his passion. Has sailed in multiple Olympic classes as Finn, 470, Soling, Tempest, Tornado, Flying Dutchman, Star. For seven years member of the Soviet Union Sailing Team in STAR CLASS. Two Olympic campaigns in STAR CLASS of which one ended with SU boycotting 1984 LA Games and the other in 2012 was not successful due to late start and lack of time and funding. Participant of the Whitbread Round the World Race 1989 - 90 in Finnish Team BELMONT FINLAND. World and Europe Champion in offshore sailing. Since 2008 coach and active racer in Dragon class and offshore racing.
